Learn the correct method of cleansing

Reminder: Never apply cleanser directly to face. The PH value of the cleanser is not stable and can easily cause/ aggravate sensitive skins

Tip 1: Squeeze/ pour suitable amount of cleanser on palms, rub to create foam before applying to face

Tip 2: Always use light strokes for massaging/ cleansing. Focus especially on face areas which get oily easily e.g. nose area

Tip 3: Never pull at eye area. The skin in this area is delicate, any pulling action will result in lines & wrinkles

Questions to doctor:

Q1) How many times should I wash my face a day?
Ans: 2-3 times is sufficient for normal skin

Q2) Should I use hot water to wash my face?
Ans: Water temperature should be similar to our body temperature. Water that is too hot will strip our skin of its natural oils and results in more active production of facial oil

Q3) Can ladies use men's cleanser?
Ans: Yes men's cleanser is more suitable for ladies with oilier skins. Men's skin tend to be oilier, hence men's cleansers usually have oil & sebum control and exfoliation properties.
Ladies with normal skins should stick with normal cleansers

Q4) Can I use bar soap for facial cleansing?
Ans: This is not recommended unless you have very oily skin. Bar soaps have high PH value for cleansing purposes. This is too alkaline for our facial skin. Once stripped of its natural oils, our face will have more active oil production or even skin problems

Q5) Do anti-acne cleansers stop acne?
Ans: It is recommended for acne skin to use gentle cleansers. Acne cleansers usually have anti-bacterial & low AHA ingredients which may not stop acne production. It is recommended for acne skin to follow up with oil/ sebum control and pore care skincare products after cleansing

Our skin is most receptive to skincare products when it is slightly moist just after washing. Using a suitable facial toner coupled with light massages using a suitable moisturizer is good for maintaining skin hydration
